Nero, the most widely used CD/DVD burning software has released Nero 9 free edition this August. I think many of you know that. I like Nero very much. I am a big fan of Nero 6 and I still use it on my XP. I went on with Nero upto version 7. After that, Nero 8 and 9 had become very huge and involved many unwanted features and apps. That’s why I switched to CDBurnerXP, a free and effective burning solution. But with the release of Nero 9 Lite edition, my love for Nero has risen once again. That’s why downloaded and installed it as soon as I came to know about it. Unfortunately, it doesn’t met my needs. It fell short in burning ISO images. I test Linux a lot and many Linux distros come in ISO images only. Hence, I shifted back to CDBurnerXP.
I recently read somewhere that Nero released an update to the free edition. I downloaded it and installed on my Windows 7. Actually, I decided to install IMGburn on Windows 7 along with Nero, since Nero doesn’t burn ISO images. But, to my surprise Nero has included this image burning feature in this update. Now Nero 9 can burn ISO, NRG images onto DVD/CD and also it can create images from CD/DVD. But I observed that creating ISO image from a CD/DVD isn’t working. We can only create NRG image from a CD/DVD. That is not a big problem. Creating an image file is important whether it is ISO/NRG, and my Nero 9 lite edition does that very easily. Now I am really… really satisfied with this Nero Lite edition. Now I can say that Nero lite edition have all the basic features needed.
