The Chemical Modeling and Thermodynamic Data Evaluation Project supports and maintains chemical speciation program WATEQ4F. WATEQ4F is ideally suited for processing large numbers of water analyses. The most recent publication of the user's manual for WATEQ4F is USGS Open-File Report 91-183. Since this publication was released, many upgrades and modifications have been made, including complete reworking of the uranium and arsenic thermodynamic data and modification to the structure of input and output file formats to accept and generate spreadsheet-compatible input and output. Efforts are underway to develop a Linux version and to add chromium speciation and solubility calculations to WATEQ4F. The only up-to-date version presently available is the PC version.
The WATEQ4F chemical speciation model and related materials (data and documentation) are made available by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) to be used in the public interest and the advancement of science. You may, without any fee or cost, use, copy, modify, or distribute this software, and any derivative works thereof, and its supporting documentation, subject to the USGS software User Rights Notice.
